Everyone has heard that the most important meal of the day is breakfast, but many still choose to skip it. Taking the time to make a meal in the morning can feel overwhelming to fit into your routine, especially if you’re a teacher.  That’s why it’s simpler to try a few grab-and-go snacks.  Simply taking a few hours one day a week to prepare some nutritious snacks for for the entire week will ensure you are eating healthy without having it stress you out.

Have you thought about the ingredients in your store-bought trail mix?

There are many trail mixes available that are packaged for convenience.  However, considering that many prepackaged foods contain preservatives, the smart thing to do is to make sure you know precisely what is in your snack.  The best way to do this is to take the time to prepare a healthy snack yourself.  Trail mix can be loaded with healthy unsaturated fats, protein, and fiber. You can get them salted, unsalted, roasted, or raw. However, they also may have many essential vitamins and minerals in them.

Dried fruit is a great way to get your fiber for the day, and it’s also filled with vitamins and antioxidents.  Just be wary about adding too much  because some fruit has a high sugar content and may even contain preservatives.  Opt for dried fruit that has little sugar added.  Good choices are apples, cherries, blueberries, prunes, raisins, cranberries, figs, and dates.

There are a couple of easy grab-and-go ideas for snacks that are ideal for a simple breakfast or snack while you are working. Another great idea is to take some time on Sunday to cut up some veggies.  This way you can get your vitamins while grading papers.
