The Smithsonian Institute is hosting an event on Saturday, March 12th, 2016 in honor of woman’s history month. The Institute is encouraging all women to come enjoy a day of fun and hands-on learning at hundreds of Smithsonian Affiliated Institutions around the country such as libraries, zoo’s, aquariums, and science-centers all free of charge for the day.
The Smithsonian Institute acknowledges feats of achievement women have accomplished recently such as increased graduation rates at 4-year colleges and universities. Statistics such as a 3.1% increase in Latin women, 2.7% increase for American Indian\Alaskan Native women, 2.1% increase for Asian women, and 0.9% increase for African American women. The Institute hopes to be able to better provide opportunities for women to connect content that they learn in school to their lives and communities.
